Video is fast becoming the number one marketing method and there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon. What’s event better, is that as the technology improves, we are able to do much more with video than before, making it the most versatile marketing tool that you can invest in. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a BILLION!
What makes video so special anyway? Well , there are hundreds of reasons to start using video as your primary marketing tool, but for today, we are only going to go over what I think are the top five, so let’s jump right into it!
What I absolutely love about video is the fact that you communicate more than just your message, you get to build a measure of rapport and familiarity with the viewers. Research has shown that people primarily buy based on feelings and emotions, and not needs. So if you can build rapport ahead of time and begin to establish trust with you viewers, the easier it will be to convert them into customers.
SHOWCASE MULTIPLE ELEMENTS
Because video is a combination of moving imagery and sound, you are able to showcase multiple elements in a very short period of time. Research has shown that combining the right visual and audio elements drastically raises engagement, and increases information retention. This means that YOU can use video to not only showcase you brand, goods and services quickly and effectively, but you can also ensure you are top of mind in you customers memory.
EASE OF ACCESS
As informative as reading can be, it’s very time consuming, and typically, you have to read the entire text before you can obtain a clear and accurate message out of the material. With video, all you have to do is listen, and more importantly, if you think you have misunderstood something, you can simply track back and forth on the video and gain a clearer perspective. What’s more important with this ease of access is shareability, sharing a video is easy and instantaneous, so now you can spread the word much quicker...
TRANSFER OF EMOTION
We talked about people buying based on emotions versus needs earlier, use this to your advantage! The majority of our communication is non-verbal, and as a result of this, video allows you to use those non-verbals to great effect. Scripting your message and then combining it with the right body language not only gets the message across, but also transfers a significant amount of emotional energy, emotions = engagement, and engagement = sales!
SHAREABLE ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS
Lastly, video can go where text cannot. Social media platforms like twitter for example have a strict limit on the number of characters that your message can contain, and others, like YouTube, make virtually no use of text as the primary engagement method. With attention spans getting shorter and shorter, and the competition between brands getting stiffer, being able to transmit your message effortlessly on multiple platforms is key!
Hopefully I have given you enough reasons to consider using video as part of your next branding and marketing outreach. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at email@example.com!
